Group Leaders: How to add your group members

Many of you have asked us for a way for your friends and colleagues in your prayer groups to access the content on this site. Previously this was only possible by sharing your own personal account details but now we are pleased to be able to offer a new “sub account” feature. Read on below for instructions on how to set this up for your prayer group.

This feature is only available on request.

Unless you recently joined The Purple Company or have previously asked us to have this turned on for you (you can check if it is set-up by using the steps outlined in “Managing Sub-Accounts‘ below) you will need to request this feature on for your account. Only approved group leaders can make this request and have this facility added to their account.

How it works

All group leaders (those who completed the original application form for The Purple Company and were approved and accepted) are entitled to request this feature. Going forwards, all newly approved group leaders will have this feature enabled as default.

As group leader, you will effectively become the ‘parent’ member for your whole prayer group’s membership of The Purple Company.

As the ‘Parent’ you will then be able to invite sub-accounts to register under your group account. Sub-accounts will not have to pay a membership fee. You as the ‘parent’ will be responsible for monthly payment, on behalf of your group. 

Managing sub-accounts

Once you’ve been granted ‘Parent’ account privilege, you will be able to see a new link option on your Account page > Subscriptions tab. This link option is called “Sub Accounts” and will look like this:

Clicking on that link will reveal your prayer group’s account information for your subscription like the image below:

Guide to creating sub-accounts

X of X Sub Accounts Used – Here, you will see how many of your allocated sub-accounts have been used. In the example above you can see that I’ve used: 1 of 20 Sub Accounts. If you need more Sub Accounts please let us know.

Add Sub Account (button) – Clicking this button will reveal a form with the following details:

Existing Username: In a few rare occasions some of you may need to use this entry form to put the username of an existing user on this site to add that user under your parent membership. The field does not support entry of the user’s email, or move an existing user if they are currently associated with another prayer group account. 

– OR – (under this header, you can use the entries to create a new user to be added under your account)

Username: (Required) Used to enter the username that will be associated with the sub-account. Please note that usernames cannot be changed once submitted, so it’s important that this is entered correctly. Usernames MUST be the email address of the person you are adding.

Email: (Required) Enter the email to be associated with the sub-account. The new member’s welcome email will be sent to this email if that option is enabled below.

First Name: (Optional) Used to enter the first name of the user as needed. 

Last Name: (Optional) Used to enter the last name of the user as needed. 

Send NEW members the welcome email: (Optional) Check the checkbox next to this option to send the sub-account Welcome Email. The email is sent to the email entered above. 

Search Sub Accounts – You can use this search bar to search for sub-accounts in the table below it instead of manually searching each page. For best results, search by username or email. 

Sub Accounts table – Here, you will be able to see all sub-accounts associated with your Corporate Group Account. The table will show the sub-account’s username, email, first name, last name, and also give the option to manually remove any sub-accounts with the “Remove” link next to each entry. 

Previous/Next Page: You can use these options to manually scroll through the pages of sub-account users.

Export Sub Accounts: Clicking on this option just below the sub-accounts table will export all sub-accounts associated with your account.

Signup URL – This is a simple URL that you can copy and send to anyone that you would like to subscribe under your membership. Use the clipboard icon to easily copy it.

For those of you who are more technical/brave...

If you’re familiar working with spreadsheets you can use this feature to bulk upload all the sub-accounts:

Import Sub Accounts via CSV: 

You can use this section to import a previously created comma delimited CSV file with a maximum of 200 sub-account entries. Additionally you can enable or disable the following emails:

Send NEW members a password reset link (does not email existing members): Sends the user a simple password reset link. You should use this option if you don’t already know the sub-account’s passwords. This is because the welcome email cannot include any password information.

Send NEW members the welcome email if they haven’t received it already for the membership: This is the same welcome email mentioned above in the “Add Sub Account (button)” section.


Formatting the Sub Accounts CSV File:
The only fields needed for the CSV are:

  • Username (“username”)
  • Email (“email”)
  • First name (“first_name”)

Last name (“last_name”)
